The area of a rectangle is 63 square feet. the length is two feet longer than the width. what is the width of the rectangle?

    The width would be 7 feet. you would work it like this:

    l = x+2

    w = x

    63=x (x+2)

    63 = x^2 + 2x

    0 = x^2 + 2x - 63

    0 = (x-7) (x+9)

    x-7=0

    x=7
