    y is the total number of votes, which is given as 125,000

    Replace Y in the equation and solve for x.

    X - 62500 = 0.25 (125000)

    Simplify:

    x - 62500 = 31250

    Add 62500 to both sides:

    X = 31250 + 62500

    X = 93750
