    8 miles for a price of $64

    Step-by-step explanation:

    x: miles walked

    price charged by karen = 40 + 3x

    price charged by annette = 8x

    To solve when both charge the same price you have to equal the equations:

    40 + 3x = 8x

    40 = 8x - 3x

    40 = 5x

    8 = x
