You're going to divide 1/3 gal of paint by 10 students.

    1/3 : 10

Use the Keep, Change, Flip method.

    Keep the 1/3.

Change the : sign to a * sign.

    Flip the 10 (10/1) to 1/10.

Your new equation looks like this: 1/3 * 1/10.

    Multiply.

    1/3 * 1/10 = 1/30

Each student got 1/30 gallon of paint.
