Students reported volunteering at the animal shelter during the last 6 months for 25, 36, 31, and 32 hours. What is the mean absolute deviation for the number of hours students volunteered? Round to the nearest tenth.

    (1) First get the mean: 25 + 36 + 31 + 32 / 4 = 31

    (2) Find the distance of each value to the mean: 31-25 = 6; 36-31=5; 31-31=0; 32-31=1

    So the mean deviation is 3.
