    3x - 5y = 14

    2x + 4y = 2

    We multiply the first equation by 2 and the second equation by 3 to obtain:

    6x - 10y = 28

    6x + 12y = 6

    Subtracting the two equations:

    -22y = 22

    y = - 1

    Using this in the first equation:

    3x - 5 (-1) = 14

    x = 3

    The solution is:

    (3, - 1)
