3. Edward's recipe for salad uses a ratio of cups of lettuce to lb of tomatoes. (a) Use a complex fraction to compare the amount of lettuce to the amount of tomatoes. (b) Determine how many cups of lettuce Edward needs to mix with 1 lb of tomatoes. Show your work.

    (9/4) cups of lettuce / (1/2) lb of tomotoes

    b.

    For one pound of tomatoes, the recipe will be doubled.

    multiplying the ratio by 2/2, the ratio would be:

    2 ((9/4) / (1/2)

    distributing the 2/2

    (18/4) / (2/2)

    which when simplified once is

    (9/2) / (1)

    so reducing to decimal form, so:

    4.5 cups of lettuce for 1 cup of tomatoes
