    Since we know the mean of the two numbers is 10.01, we can find the total of the two numbers by multiplying the mean by 2.

    10.01 x 2 = 20.02

    The total is 20.02

    There are two numbers that add up to 20.02, one of them is 5.5 times less than the other. So we define the smaller of the number as x and the other greater number will be 5.5x.

    Smaller number = x

    larger numer = 5.5x

    Now we add both the variables together and it should give us 20.02.

    x + 5.5x = 20.02

    6.5 x = 20.02

    Since 6.5x is 20.02, we divide 20.02 by 6.5 to get us the value of x

    x = 20.02 : 6.5

    x = 3.08

    x is the smaller number, so the smaller number is 3.08. Now find the greater number by multiplying x by 5.5 times

    5.5x = 3.08 x 5.5

    5.5x = 16.94

    So now, we have found the greater number, which is 16.94.

    We can check by adding 3.08 to 16.94, which gives us 20.02 and that is correct.

    Anwer: The numbers are 3.08 and 16.94.
