A species of bird originally had a population of 26 birds when they were introduced to a particular region. Scientists studying the species have noticed that the number of birds has doubled every 4 years since then. If the number of birds continues to double every 4 years, how many birds will there be 12 years after the birds were introduced to the region? Explain how you found your answer.
