First distribute through the set of parentheses.

When we distribute, we multiply the number outside

times each of the terms located inside the set.

    So we have - 2 (x) + - 2 (4) or - 2x - 8.

    Now we have - 2x - 8 + 5x + 10.

Combine like terms → your numbers and your "x" terms.

    -2x + 5x is 3x and - 8 + 10 is 2.

    So we have 3x + 2.

3x + 2 cannot be simplified any further.
