The radius of Circle A is three feet less than twice the diameter of Circle B. If the sum of the

diameters of both circles is 49 feet, find the area and circumference of Circle A.

    D = diameter of circle B

    For circle A

    r = 2D - 3

    Therefore, the diameter of circle A is 2 * the r

    d + D = 49

    4D - 6 + D = 49

    4D + D = 49 + 6

    5D = 55

    Divide both sides by 5

    D = 11

    Slot in the value of D in d = 4D - 6

    d = 4*11 - 6

    Area of circle A = πd^2 / 4

    = 3.14 * 38^2 / 4

    Circumference of circle A = πd
