To find the approximate growth rate, take the rate after 3 years (480) and divide it by the number of years passed (3). This gives values of 480 - 400, or 80, divided by 3, or approximately 26.67 individuals added to the population per year, or 27 per year if the value is rounded to the nearest individual.
