Gracie's insurance premiums are $150 per month. This year she also paid a $500 deductible and 20% of $3,000 for a minor accident. How much was her total health care expense for one year?

    Her insurance premiums are 150 per month ... there is 12 months in a year ... so in 1 year, her premiums totaled : (150 * 12) = 1800

    she paid a $ 500 deductible

    she paid 20% of $ 3000 for the accident ...

    0.20 * 3000 = $ 600

    therefore, her total healthcare expenses for 1 yr totaled:

    1800 + 500 + 600 = $ 2900 <==
