The scale of a map is 1:1000. The actual dimensions of a rectangle is 4cm by 3cm. What is the actual area in m²?

    multiply the dimensions by 1000cm

    4cm--> 4000cm

    3cm--> 3000cm

    convert 4000cm and 3000cm to metres by dividing by 100

    because 1m=100cm

    4000/100=40m

    3000/100=30m

    40m x 30m = 1200m²
