When you round 1945 to the nearest thousands, you get the answer as 2000 because 1 is at the thousands place so when you look at the next number which is 9, it's greater than 5 so you add 1 to the thousands place. Thus you get the answer as 2000

To round to the nearest thousand you have to look at the hundred place if it's greater than 5 then round up. If it's less than 5 round down. 1945 rounded is 2000
