If the mean of m, n, s, P and q is 12.

Calauate the mean of (m + 4), (n-3), (s+6)

(p-2) and (q+8).

    We have,

    Mean = Σx/n

    or 12 = (m+n+s+p+q) / 5

    or, m+n+s+p+q = 60 ... (i)

    Again,

    New Mean = (m+4+n-3+s+6+p-2+q+8) / 5 [∵ n = 5]

    or, New Mean = { (m+n+s+p+q) + 13}/5

    or, New Mean = (60+13) / 5 = 73/5 [from eq (i) ]

    ∴ New Mean = 14.6 Ans.
