A construction crew must build 3 miles of road in one week. On Monday, they build 2/3 mile of road. On Tuesday, they build 1/4 of a mile. How many miles of road do they still have to build this week?

    Subtract: 3 miles less (2/3 mile plus 1/4 mile) =

    3 miles less (8/12 mile plus 3/12 mile) =

    3 miles less 11/12 mile = 2 1/12 miles left to be built.
