Let's first move our numbers to the right

by subtracting 2 from both sides.

    On the left, the + 2 - 2 cancels and we have - 5x

and on the right, 37 - 2 simplifies to 35.

    So we have - 5x > 35.

Now divided both sides by - 5.

However, when you divide both sides of an inequality by a negative number, you must switch the direction of the inequality sign.

    So dividing both sides by - 5, we have x < - 7.
