The additive inverse of an expression is composed of terms which bear the opposite sign of the equivalent functions such that when the two functions are added, the sum is zero. In this case, the additive inverse of + 4x is B-4x.

    2. a) 4x + (4 - x) = 0

    4x + 4 - x = 3x + 4 is not equal to 0.

    b) 4x + (-4x) = 0 additive inverse

    c) 4x + (1/4x) not equal to zero should use multiplicative inverse

    d) 4x + x - 4 = 5x - 4 is not equal to zero
