    A boat moves at a rate of 40 mph in Stillwater if the rivers current flow in a rate of 4 mph how long does it take a boat to travel 22 miles upstream?

    upstream rate: 40 mph - 4 mph = 36 mph

    how long: 22 miles/36 mph = 0.6 h = 36 minutes
