    They each donated 56 books

    Step-by-step explanation:

    O = 176

    D = 80

    O - a = 5 (D - a)

    176 - a = 5 (80 - a)

    176 - a = 400 - 5a

    4a = 224

    a = 56

    Each person donated 56 books.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let d represent the # of books donated by each person. Then:

    in Olivia's case, 176-d = 5 (80-d). Then 176-d = 400 - 5d.

    Solving for d: 4d = 224, and d = 56.

    Each person donated 56 books.
