A block of aluminum with a volume of 10 cm3 is placed in a beaker of water filled to the brim. Water overflows. The same is done in another beaker with a 10-cm3 block of lead. Does the lead displace more, less, or the same amount of water

    Note that both aluminium and lead have densities (or specific gravities) that are greater than that of water. Hence when either is placed into the beaker, both will sink entirely to the bottom of the beaker.

    Because the water in the beaker was initially filled to the brim, if the entire 10cm³ of either metal is entirely submerged, it will displace the same volume of water (10cm³) which will overflow the beaker.

    in our case, both metals have the same volume (10cm³) hence both will diplace the same volume of water (10cm³).
