In the third week, 140 more people went to the pool than in the second week. In the fourth week, 183 fewer people went to the pool than in the third week. What is the percent decrease in the number of people who went to the pool over these four weeks?

    2) Base value = number of people that went to the local swimming pool in the first week = 1,020

    3) Decrease = net change in the number of people

    Week 1: 1,020 people Week 2: 1,020 - 110 = 910 people Week 3: 910 + 140 = 1,050 Week 4: 1,050 - 183 = 867 people

    Net change (decrease) = number of people that went in the first week - number of people that went in the fourth week = 1,020 - 867 = 153 people
