Last summer Katie mowed lawns to earn money. She mowed 35 lawns per week. And it's $6 per lawn. She wants to earn $150 additionally than last year so she raises her price to $8.

Write down an equation to find the number of new customers Katie needs to earn additionally $150.

    Katie wants additional $150 and the slope is 8, because she is charging $8 per lawn

    150=8x

    Divide 8 by both sides to get x by itself

    x=18.75

    The answer is a decimal, but you cannot have

    .75 of a person, so round it up

    x=19

    Katie would need 19 more customers to earn an additional $150
