move 1/3x to the other side
sign changes from + 1/3x to - 1/3x
5/3x-1/3x+5=1/3x-1/3x-3
5/3x-1/3x+5=-3
move + 5 to the other side
sign changes from + 5 to - 5
5/3x-1/3x+5-5=-3-5
5/3x-1/3x=-8
4/3x=-8
Multiply both sides by 3/4
4/3x (3/4) = -8 (3/4)
Cross out - 8 and 4, divide by 4 and then becomes - 2*3=-6
Answer: x=-6
