When a truckload of apples arrives at a packing plant, a random sample of 175 apples are selected and examined for bruises and other defects. The whole truckload will be accepted if less than 16% of the sample are bruised or otherwise unsatisfactory. Suppose that in reality, 11% of the apples on a particular truck are bruised or otherwise unsatisfactory.

What is the probability that this truckload will be accepted?

    Given:

    sample population: 175

    maximum defect: 16% of the sample

    in reality: 11% of the sample are bruised or unsatisfactory.

    I used an online calculator to get the probability of acceptance. It gave me a probability of 0.98 or 98% that the truckload will be accepted.
