The absolute value is x<1 because first you subtract 3 from both sides and then divide both side by 2 which gives you the answer.

Absolute value means that anything inside the absolute value box will be made positve so

    |3-5|=2 because 3-5=-2 but absolute value menas that it is turned positve

if you want to find the solutions to 2x+3<5 then

    subtract 3 from both sides

    2x<2

    divide both sides by 2

    x<1

I hope i'm thinking right that the solution must be positive because of abolute value so solution is all number between 0 and 1 not including 0 and 1
