When your subtracting negatives you go farther from zero. When you add negatives still go farther from zero but, when you have a negative number with a positive number it will be a 50% chance you'll get a positive number.
For example: - 2 - (-5) = - 7
Example 2: - 10 + 20 = - 10
How? 20 is more than - 10 therefore when you count 20 from - 10 u get 10.

The answer is - 48
You subtract 36 from - 12, making the number go lower but since it's in negatives the number is as if ur adding 36 plus 12 but in the negatives
