    2y + x = - 6

    y = - 2x + 0

    We can substitute the second equation into the first one.

    2y + x = - 6

    2 (-2x + 0) + x = - 6

    -4x + x = - 6

    -3x = - 6

    Divide - 3 on both sides.

    x = 2

    Now, plug x = 2 into any equation and solve for y.

    y = - 2x + 0

    y = - 2 (2) + 0

    y = - 4

    The solution to the system of equations is (2,-4).
