In 2009, a Jamaican sprinter named Usain Bolt set a world record when he ran 100 meters in 9.58 seconds (or 0.160 minutes). If a car traveled at that average speed for 1 hour, how far would it travel?

The distance traveled in one hour is equal to the distance traveled in one minute times the number of minutes in an hour.

But I cannot figure out the answer! It's way to hard for me, and normally, I'm really ggood at this kind of thing. But today, I just can't seem to do it?! I'm actually really annoyed about it!

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Given Usain bolt traveled 100m in 0.160 minutes

    recall that

    speed = distance travelled : time taken

    hence Usain Bolt's speed

    = 100 m : 0.160 min

    = 625 meters per min

    Now given that a car travels at the same speed for one hour.

    recall 1 hour = 60 minutes.

    Using the same formula as above

    speed = distance traveled : time taken

    rearranging, we get

    distance traveled = speed x time taken

    we calculated the speed previously to be 625 m/min and we are given a time of 1 hour (i. e 60 min)

    hence

    distance traveled = speed x time taken

    distance traveled = 625 m/min x 60 min = 37,500 m
