A sporting goods store sells 3 fishing reels and 4 fishing rods for $523. Later, they sell 9 fishing reels and 3 fishing rods for $507. Find the price of each item.

    -3 (3f+4s=523) + (9f+3s=507)

    -9f-12s+9f+3s=-1569+507

    -9s=-1062

    s=118, making 3f+4s=523 become:

    3f+472=523

    3f=51

    f=17

    So the reels are $17 each and the rods are $118 each.
