    V=LWH, W=L-3, H=5, V=270

    L (L-3) 5=270

    5L^2-15L=270

    5L^2-15L-270=0

    L^2-3L-54=0

    L^2+6L-9L-54=0

    L (L+6) - 9 (L-6) = 0

    (L-9) (L+6) = 0

    Since L>0

    L=9 meters
