    The x value of the vertex for

    ax²+bx+c=y is - b/2a

    so

    y=2x²+12x+22

    b=12

    a=2

    -b/2a=-12 / (2*2) = - 12/4=-3

    that is x value

    to find y value, sub the x value for x

    -3 for x

    y=2 (-3) ²+12 (-3) + 22

    y=2 (9) - 36+22

    y=18-14

    4

    (-3,4) is vertex
