Lisa is extending the width of her son's sandbox. it is currently a rectangle that is 2 yards long and 18 inches wide. she wants it to cover an area of 4 yd in total. by how does she have to increase the width to achieve new area?

    1.5 yd should be increased to the width:

    1yd=36inch

    18inch*1yd/36inch=.5yd

    lw=area

    4yd²=2ydw

    2=w

    2-.5=1.5yd
