How do I simplify a exponent on the outside of the square root?

ex: exponent 2 on outside of sqrt 16

    Well first you would start with the 16. What times what gives you 16? And then you would go to the 2. Since there isn't anything that the 2 can be multiplied by, it will just drop down.
