4/9 cups of red paint would be needed.

    Step-by-step explanation:

Firstly, you have to use 1/4 of 3/4 to make one cup.

Then, multiply 1/3 by 33.33333% and the add it to 1/3.

So, for every 1 cup of yellow paint, 4/9 cups of red paint.

Multiply 3/4 by 33.33333% to get 1/4. Then, multiply 33.33333% by 1/3 and add that to 1/3.

about 0.44 of a cup. to be more precise, 0.444444 (the 4s keep repeating)

Edit: 0.44 of a cup is also 4/9 of a cup as the other answerer said. Either is correct.
