The Jayden family eats at a restaurant that is having a 15% discount promotion. Their meal costs $78.02

before the discount, and they leave a 20% tip. If the tip applies to the cost of the meal before the discount,

what is the total cost of the meal? Round your intermediate calculations and answer to the nearest cent.

    20% tip - > 20/100 = 0.20

    You calculate 20% of 75.68 by multiplying 75.68 * 0.20. This will give you the amount you will leave as tip.

    After doing this you move on to calculating the discount which is 15%. Do so following the same steps as before

    15% - > 15/100 =.15

    Multiplying 78.02 * 0.15 will give you the amount of money that you get off of your regular price.

    Once you know how much money off you're supposed to get with the discount you need to subtract that amount from 75.68 to get the new price of the meal with 15% off. Once you do that add the tip you calculated to get the total.
