The following show a change of scale made by an architect in one of his drawings. Old: 1 in. = 16 cm. New:1in. = 2cm Which is the change in scale factor from the old scale to the new scale?

    The scale factor changes by 1/8.

    The numerator, 1 stays the same; the denominator changes. 16/2 = 8; it is 1/8 the scale of the previous scale.
