Rebecca wants to buy cupcakes. She can buy 2 for $0.48 or 5 cupcakes for $.1.25. Which is the better buy? Explain your answer.

    To figure this out, you have to find the unit price of both.

    The unit price for buying two cupcakes is 24 cents for 1 cupcake.

    The unit price for buying 5 cupcakes is 25 cents for 1 cupcake. Therefore, the better buy is to buy two cupcakes. They are one cent less each.

    2 for $0.48 is a better buy. You save 1 cent per cupcake.

    There's really not much of a difference though.
