Since 3 is being subtracted from 2x, we add 3
to both sides of the equation to isolate the 2x.
On the left, the - 3 and + 3 cancel
out and on the right, 7 + 3 is 10.
So we have 2x = 10.
No we can finish things off by just dividing
both sides of the equation by 2.
On the left the 2's cancel and on
the right, 10 divided by 2 is 5.
So we have x = 5.
