    6 - 3 (2x - 4) = 2 (1 + x)

    6 - 3 (2x) + 3 (4) = 2 (1) + 2 (x)

    6 - 6x + 12 = 2 + 2x

    6 + 12 - 6x = 2 + 2x

    18 - 6x = 2 + 2x

    + 6x + 6x

    18 = 2 + 8x

    - 2 - 2

    16 = 8x

    8 8

    2 = x

    The answer is D.
