    The length l is given as:

    l = 2 w - 6

    where w is the width

    We know that the fencing is 30 feet therefore the perimeter (excluding the side of the house) is:

    P = l + 2 w = 30

    2 w - 6 + 2 w = 30

    4 w - 6 = 30

    w = 9

    So the length l is:

    l = 2 (9) - 6

    l = 12

    The dimensions are 12 ft x 9 ft
