    Distribute invisibl - 1 to he 4x³+2x²-8

    we get

    6x²-3-5x³-4x³-2x²+8

    group like terms

    -5x³-4x³+6x²-2x²-3+8

    add them

    (6•2 - 3 - 5•3) - (4•3 + 2•2 - 8)

    (12 - 3 - 15) - (12 + 4 - 8)

    (9 - 15) - (16 - 8)

    (-6) - (8)
