    To find the area of a rectangle you would do this:

    Width x Length

    We would have to find the length of the rectangle before we find the area

    36 (2) + 2 (L) = 80

    Since there are two widths and 2 lengths I would do it like this

    72 + 2 (L) = 80

    Subtract

    2 (L) = 8

    Divide

    Length = 4

    Now we can do the area like so:

    Width times length

    36 times 4 = 144

    144 cm^2 = area
