    Given:

    Diameter = 12 inches.

    Find: Circumference of the dinner plates.

    Circumference = 2 π r

    π = 3.14

    r = diameter / 2 = 12/2 = 6 inches

    Circumference = 2 * 3.14 * 6 inches

    Circumference = 37.68 inches

    37.68 inches rounded to the nearest tenth is 37.70 inches.

    Circumference can also be computed by multiplying pi and the diameter.

    C = 3.14 * 12 inches

    C = 37.68 inches
