    Rewrite as x^2+x+4=0

    then use quadratic formula - b + / - sqrt (b^2-4ac) then divide all by 2a

    -1 + / - sqrt (-1) ^2-4 (1) (4) divide by 2 (-1)

    {-1 + / _ sqrt (-15) }/-2 so your answer is imaginery

    1/2 + (sqrt 15) i/2 and 1/2 - (sqrt 15) i/2

    X² + x = - 4

    x² + x + 4 = - 4 + 4

    x² + x + 4 = 0

    x = - 1 + / - √ (1² - 4 (1) (4))

    2 (1)

    x = - 1 + / - √ (1 - 16)

    2

    x = - 1 + / - √ (-15)

    2

    x = - 1 + / - √ (15 * (-1))

    2

    x = - 1 + / - √ (15) * √ (-1)

    2

    x = - 1 + / - 3.873i

    2

    x = - 1/2 + / - 1.9365i

    x = - 1/2 + 1.9365i ∨ x = - 1/2 - 1.9365i
