    Length: 2x + 4 Width: x

    Make 2 (length) + 2 (width) add up to 26 in an equation.

    2 (2x + 4) + 2 (x) = 26

    Distribute 2 inside the parentheses.

    4x + 8 + 2x = 26

    Combine like terms.

    6x + 8 = 26

    Subtract 8 from both sides.

    6x = 18

    Divide both sides by 6.

    x = 3

    Plug 3 for x into the length and width.

    Length: 2 (3) + 4 = 10 m

    Width: (3) = 3 m
