The distance from the earth to the moon is about 2.4 * 105 miles. the planet earth is about 2.5 * 104 miles around at the equator. how many times further is the distance from the earth to the moon than the distance around the earth? write your answer is standard notation.

    (distance to the moon) / (distance around Earth)

    = (2.4*10⁵ mi) / (2.5*10⁴ mi) = 24/2.5

    = 9.6

    The distance to the moon is 9.6 times the distance around Earth.
