Three times the difference of a number x and seven is twenty-three minus the sum of three times a number x and two. what is the value of x?

    3 (x - 7) = 23 - (3x + 2) =

    3x - 21 = 23 - 3x - 2 =

    3x - 21 = - 3x + 21

    3x + 3x = 21 + 21

    6x = 42

    x = 42/6
