    X + 5 / 2 = 10

    Let's multiply each side by 2 to get rid of the 2.

    2 (x + 5) = 10 * 2

    Let's simplify that

    2x + 10 = 20

    Now let's minus 10 from each side to get rid of the 10.

    2x = 10

    Now let's divide by 2

    x = 5

    When we do things like minus 10 from each side, it's cause we know that we need all of our Xs on one side, and all of our numbers on the other side. By minusing 10 from each side, we take away the 10 from the x side. But since we need both sides to remain proportional, we have to do even operations to both sides. This means that what we do to one side, we also do to the other side.
